Mentioned in Despatches 'He has been on continuous service since August 1914, and has been faultless in his conduct. He has been a consistently efficient disciplinarian and always vigilant for the interests of patients and personnel. He did splendid work in the Somme operations in controlling and directing bearers. He was wounded at this time whilst taking the bearers through a new sap. He has continued to render valuable service throughout the period 21st September 1916 to 25th February 1917.'
