Military Medal 'Messines Offensive 7th to 8th June 1917. Private Coombes is a Company Runner. During the counter attack on the evening of the 8th inst. he made several journeys through enemy barrage to Battalion Headquarters with important messages, thus by his disregard of personal danger keeping his company in touch. He has previously done very good work.'
