Military Medal

'At Messines during the operations of the 7th, 8th, and 9th June 1917 this man rendered very valuable services as a Battalion Signaller and laying and maintaining a telephone line between Battalion Forward Command Post and the Brigade Forward Station. The work was difficult and dangerous, but largely owing to his effort communication was kept up. He has previously shown the same courage and devotion to duty.'
