Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the morning of 1st October 1918, near Crevecoeur, Sergeant Collis who was in command of a platoon was ordered to form a defensive flank covering the left flank of the Battalion which had been exposed through a counter attack pressing back the Battalion on the left. He handled his command and maintained his platoon in position, despite heavy enemy shelling and Machine Gun Fire, for two days. He showed the utmost contempt for danger and was always to be found when the fire was hottest. His platoon was eventually reduced from 27 to 7 effectives, and he himself was wounded but not a yard of ground was given up.'
