Military Medal 'For most conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty, during attack near Beaumont at 2pm on 30th March 1918. Private Closey three times, at great personal risk delivered important messages to Battalion Head Quarters. On each occasion he had to cross ground swept by machine gun fire. He also took messages forward through heavy fire and performed his duties as a runner in a courageous and most praiseworthy manner.'
