Military Medal ' At Broodseinde on the day of 20th February, 1918 - this N.C.O displayed great coolness, determined and bold leadership. He led a daylight patrol 900 yards in front of our advanced posts into an enemy position in order to discover if it was occupied. The position was found to be occupied and patrol withdrew without being fired on or molested. By his boldness much valuable information was gained. His work throughout has been conspicuously good.'
