Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations against the Passchendaele Ridge on 12th, 13th and 14th October 1917. This Rifleman did exceptionally good work as a Stretcher Bearer. Regardless of heavy enemy shell and machine gun fire, he attended to and carried out the wounded night and day, going well ahead of our Front Line for the purpose. He displayed at all times an unfailing courage.'
