War service: Western Front Embarked Wellington, 2 January 1917; transshipped Cape Town to RMS 'Walmer', 24 February 1917; disembarked Devonport, 27 March 1917. Proceeded overseas to France from Sling Camp, 26 May 1917; joined Bn, and posted to C Company, 18 June 1917. Admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, 11 August 1917 (exhaustion); rejoined unit, 22 August 1917. Wounded in action, 12 October 1917; admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, 13 October 1917; transferred same day to 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station; to 55th General Hospital, 14 October 1917; to England, 18 October 1917, and admitted to Tooting Military Hospital, 19 October 1917; to No 1 NZ Military Hospital, Brockenhurst, 12 November 1917; to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 13 December 1917; to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 8 February 1918. To Lewis Gun course, 11-25 June 1918. Proceeded overseas to France, 25 September 1918; rejoined Bn, 30 September 1918.
