Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At Solemes on the 23rd October 1918, the Battalion horse lines came under heavy shell fire. With great coolness and contempt for his personal safety Lieut Chisholm, who is Battalion Transport Officer, moved the remaining horses to safety although shells were falling all round. His splendid example was undoubtedly the means of saving both his men and horses. During the whole advance Lieut Chisholm kept in close touch with Battalion Headquarters, and on this and all other occasions, has never failed to
deliver rations, frequently in the face of severe hostile shell fire.'
