Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He took part in every action
fought by the battalion until he was wounded at Gouzeaucourt, on 12th
September, 1918. He acted as platoon commander during the whole of this period,
and at all times proved himself to be one of those non-commissioned officers
whose personal gallantry, excellent command, and resourcefulness enabled the
battalion to retain its fighting efficiency.'
