Military Medal 'Operations South east of High Wood, 14th September 1916, and following days. On the 14th September in Seaforth trench while under very heavy shellfire, this N.C.O.'s gun team were all killed by a shell, he, remaining calmly at his post and seeing to the safety of his gun. His work throughout the recent advance has been marked by great energy, courage and resource.'
