Rejoined unit, Ismailia, 18 January 1916. Embarked Port Said for France, 6 April 1916. Wounded in action, 16 September 1916; admitted to 23rd General Hospital, Etaples, 19 September 1916; transferred to England, 22 September 1916, and admitted to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 25 September 1916; discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 11 October 1916. Found guilty, 10 December 1916, of being absent without leave: forfeited 2 days' pay. Admitted to Venereal Section, No 3 NZ General Hospital, Codford, 19 April 1917; discharged to Command Depot, 30 May 1917. Transferred to 3rd Bn, Canterbury Infantry Regiment, 3 May 1917.
