Croix de Guerre (Belgium) 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on 21st, 22nd and 23rd August, during the operations during Puisleui-au-Mont, when acting as Brigade Major of the 3rd N.Z. (Rifle) Brigade. During the operation on the 21st when the attack was help up, Major Carrington went forward to reconnoitre the position passing through the enemy barrage to do so. Under heavy shell and machine gun fire he visited all front line posts and from the information he gained our dispositions were altered and the operation brought to a successful conclusion. Through the whole of the operations Major Carrington has shown an utter disregard of danger and has set a fine example to all ranks.'
