Military Medal 'For gallantry and devotion to duty during the period 21st August-4th November 1918. His reconnaissances for roads, bridge sites, etc. have been characterised by daring accuracy and general usefulness partivularly at Puisieux on 21st August and at Pont-a-Pierres on the 23rd October 1918, and he has shown the greatest coolness and courage on many occasions and particularly in erecting a bridge at Pont-a-Pierres during the night of 23rd/24th October 1918 when the crossing was subjected to very heavy shellfire.'
