Military Medal 'Operations: British Front near Ruyaulcourt 4th September 1918. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the above operation Private Caldwell led his section in a charge against enemy machine guns in a strong point, which were holding up the advance, and in which he captured two machine guns and 17 prisoners. His prompt action undoubtedly assisted materially in the success of the operation.'
