Found guilty, 22 May 1917, of being absent without leave, 18-19 May 1917: forfeited 1 day's pay under Royal Warrant. Appointed Acting Sergeant while at Signalling School, Weymouth, 13 June 1917; qualified Signalling Course, 1 August 1917. Proceeded overseas to France, and marched into Base Depot, Etaples, 23 August 1917. Joined 3rd Bn, NZ Rifle Brigade, in the field, 6 September 1917. Died of wounds, 12 October 1917.
