Mentioned in Despatches 'This officer had performed conspicuous good work since the arrival of his Battalion in France last April in training Battalion Signallers. On the 13th and 16th September during the operations round Flers by his untiring energy and personal example, and in the spite of heavy fire, he maintained communication between his Advanced Battalion Headquarters and brigade Headquarters. He was killed on the
21st September.'
