Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on the morning of 29th September, 1918, at the attack on BONAVIS RIDGE. Touch was lost between the left flank of the battalion and the next division, and it was imperative to regain it. He volunteered for the task, and accomplished it successfully, passing through Masnieres, which was held by the enemy. He did good work and with his small party captured five field guns.'
