Military Medal 'Action in front of Belle Vue Spur, west of Passchendaele, on October 12th 1917, and following days. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Private F. Bruce during period from October 12th to October 15th 1917 showed untiring energy and great devotion to duty. Time after time under machine gun and sniper fire he went forward to the front aid posts and helped to keep them clear. He was a splendid example to the other men and by his coolness under fire saved many lives.'
