Military Medal 'On the 7th June under heavy fire assisted to set up the Power Buzzer at the 3rd (Rifle) Bde Forward station, near Messines, laying out the earth lines under heavy fire. Having set up the instrument and seen it installed in comparative safety, he,
although detailed for operating the instrument, volunteered to and assisted in laying the lateral line to the Brigade on the right through continual shell fire. His pluck and coolness were of great assistance in this work. His behaviour, during the
36 hours he was at the station, and during which time the area was under shell fire almost without intermission, was excellent.'
