Military Cross 'For marked gallantry and good work during the attack on Le Quesnoy on 4th November, 1918. On reaching the objective he found that the enemy was holding the farm on the road in great strength, and developing a heavy machine gun fire. With several men he worked round behind the houses and rushed three machine guns in succession, shooting down the gunners and taking many prisoners.'
