Military Medal 'This Officer while serving as a C.S.M. did splendid work both at Krithia on May 8th 1915 and at Chunuk Bair on August 8th 1915. On several occasions under very heavy fire he went out and brought wounded men to a place of safety. He was on the Peninsula throughout the campaign and showed at all times a splendid soldierly spirit.'
Source: London Gazette Date: Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During an attack which was held up by a machine gun he led his men with great determination and skill, and captured the gun and twenty prisoners. Later, with his platoon reduced to twelve men, he continued to advance upon a number of enemy who were resisting in shell holes, killing fifty of them and driving off the remainder. His gallantry and energy have at all times been most marked.'
