Military Medal 'During the attack on Messines Ridge on 7th June, 1917; by splendid handling of his Lewis gun, greatly assisted in consolidating No 3 Post on the Black Dotted Line. The post was heavily shelled but, although wounded, he showed great courage and skill
in getting his Section under cover. He has previously done good work at the Somme.'
