Military Medal 'At Flers on the night of 15/16th September, 1916, he worked all night on a strong point under heavy shell fire. After returning he volunteered to guide a battalion to Flers from Longueval, which duty he carried out successfully. During 12 hours he passed four times through a heavy barrage and performed a most useful piece of work.'
