Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 15 June 1916 (appendicitis); transferred to No 13 General Hospital, Boulogne, 17 June 1916; to England, 2 July 1916, and admitted same day to No 2 London General Hospital, Chelsea.

Marched in to NZ Field Artillery Depot, Aldershot, 9 February 1917.

Married Ethel DAWSON, spinster, Wesley Chapel, Greenacres, Oldham, England, 24 March 1917.

Admitted to Connaught Hospital, Aldershot, 28 August 1917 (pleurisy); transferred to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 10 September 1917; to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 28 November 1917; detailed on Command, NZ Convalescent Hospital, 12 April 1918; discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 10 May 1918.

Admitted to Royal Herbert Hospital, Woolwich, 27 May 1918; transferred to Military Hospital, Warlingham, 3 June 1918 (gonorrhoea); to VD Section, No 3 NZ General Hospital, Codford, 11 July 1918; discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 24 July 1918; discharged to VD Convalescent Section, No 3 NZ General Hospital, 9 August 1918.
