Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. After his platoon had gained their objective and were digging in he railed twenty men of another unit, and attacked and silenced a hostile machine gun. He then led the party forward and drove off the enemy and dug in, setting a fine example by his vigorous action and personal courage.'
