'For consistent devotion to duty during the period review, and especially in Foret de Mormal. In October while employed Company Clerk with the rank of Lance Corporal, he was called upon to perform the duties of C.Q.M.S., and by his brave determination succeeded in filling all the wants of his Coy. He has at all times shown himself possessed of a cheerful spirit which has been a source of inspiration for others.'
