Military Medal 'Operations: West of Bapaume, 25th August 1918. For gallantry and devotion to duty. This NCO was in charge of a platoon which he led with great coolness. He was detailed to assist in the capture of a machine gun nest which was holding up the advance and in taking his men forward displayed fine leadership coupled with considerable daring. He rendered assistance in a capable manner during consolidation, and gained valuable information which he supplied to his Company Commander. His good work was an inspiring example to his men.'
