War service: Western Front Embarked Wellington, 25 September 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 21 November 1916, and marched in to Sling Camp. Proceeded overseas to France, 7 January 1917; taken on strength, 4th Bn, NZ Rifle Brigade, and posted to B Company, 7 February 1917. Wounded in action, 20 May 1917 (gun shot wound, left forearm), and admitted to 3rd NZ Field Ambulance; transferred to 2nd NZ Field Ambulance, 21 May 1917; to NZ Reinforcements Camp, 4 June 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 18 June 1917. Reported missing, 12 October 1917. Court of Enquiry, held in the field, 27 February 1918, pronounced fate as 'Killed in Action, 12 October 1917'. Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal |
