War service: Western Front Embarked Wellington, 23 September 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 18 November 1916, and marched into Sling Camp. Proceeded overseas to France, 8 December 1916; joined 2nd Bn, Otago Infantry Bn, in the field, 7 January 1917, and posted to 14th Company. Wounded in action, 24 March 1917 (gun shot wound, right hand), and admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, and transferred to North Midlands Casualty Clearing Station; to 13th General Hospital, 27 March 1917; to England, 30 March 1917, and admitted to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 30 March 1917; transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 4 June 1917; to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 16 June 1917. Proceeded overseas to France, 5 September 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 8 October 1917. Reported missing, 12 October 1917.
