Embarked Alexandria, 26 July 1916; disembarked Southampton, England, 7 August 1916, and marched into Sling Camp.

Proceeded overseas to France, 28 August 1916; joined 2nd Bn, Canterbury Infantry Regiment, in the field, 14 September 1916.

Wounded in action, 6 November 1916 (gun shot wound, right shoulder), and admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, and transferred to 2nd Australian Casualty Clearing Station; discharged to duty, and rejoined Bn, in the field, 22 November 1916.

Detached to 2nd Army Rest Camp, 1 July 1917; rejoined Bn, 16 July 1917.

On leave to United Kingdom, 22 August 1917; rejoined unit, 5 September 1917.
