Miltiary Medal 'Messines Offensive 7th-9th June, 1917. This man was a Battalion Runner during the Battle of Messines. During a period when the Battalion was under constant shell fire he volunteered on several occasions to carry messages to forward companies through dangerous zones, and did so. His example to the other runners was excellent and inspiring.'
