At Gravenstafel east of Ypres. During the attack on the 4th October, 1917, this man carried most important messages, quickly and safely back to Brigade Headquarters through heavy shell fire and most difficult country. He was devoted to duty and showed utter neglect for his personal safety and disregard for danger. He has previously done most excellent work.'
