Military Medal 'For courage and devotion to duty during the operations round Messines on the 7th and 9th June 1917. Rifleman Walker rendered valuable services as a Company Runner. He constantly moved to and fro through heavy shell fire, delivered all his messages promptly, and though later suffering from shell-shock and exhaustion, bravely continued his duties. He set a splendid example of courage and tenacity. Rifleman Walker came under the observation of his Commanding Officer.'
