Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He took command of his company when he was the only officer left, and reorganised the company, which had lost direction, and led it to the objective. He consolidated the position with great skill and repulsed three counter-attacks. He showed great initiative and determination throughout.'
