Military Medal 'In action before Ruyaulcourt south east of Bapaume, on 4th September 1918, and subsequent days. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He worked
continuously as a stretcher bearer for 48 hours over a heavily shelled track and maintained a regular service in spite of the fact that the squad of which he was in charge was thrice disorganised by casualties. He completed his last carry after he
himself had been wounded.'
