Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 25th August 1918, in the attack in front of Biefvillers, Sergeant Waddel was in command of a platoon. He showed great dash and courage, and, in spite of heavy casualties, led his platoon right to its objective. On the 5th September in front of Ruyaulcourt he again led his platoon with success, capturing his objective and many prisoners. He has
commanded a platoon continuously throughout recent operations, and showed a fine example to his men.'
