Military Medal 'For gallantry and devotion to duty. Near Gravenstafel on the 4th October, he showed great skill and initiative in handling a Lewis gun, particularly his skilful use of his gun greatly assisted the Company on his left in capturing their final objective. Later during consolidation he dislodged a party of enemy snipers who were giving a lot of trouble. He displayed great determination and devotion to duty throughout.'
