Mentioned in Despatches 'Operations Messines ? 7th to 12th June 1917 and Operations opposite Warneton 14th to 19th June 1917. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the Messines Offensive, Corporal Tyler was in command of the Company Signallers. He handled his men with great skill and judgment, and succeeded in keeping communication under most trying circumstances. During the operations in front of
La Basse Ville, this non commissioned officer worked with untiring energy and great bravery. His work was of the greatest value to his Battalion Headquarters and to his Company Commander.'
