Wounded in action, 7 June 1917 (shrapnel wounds, chest, jaw, left leg), and admitted to 9th Australian Field Ambulance, and transferred to 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station; to No 83 General Hospital, Boulogne, 8 June 1917; to England, 19 June 1917, and admitted to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 20 June 1917; transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 18 July 1917; to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 29 August 1917; discharged, 19 September 1917, to report to NZ Depot, Torquay, 10 October 1917. Classified 'Unfit' by Medical Board, 25 September 1917, and placed on NZ Roll.
