Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry. This NCO was a Section Commander when his Company began an attack on 31st July on La Basse Ville. He took command on his Platoon Commander and Sergeant becoming casualties. By his leadership and personal bravery, he led his Platoon to its objective to the north of the Village where it consolidated its position. In the counter attack, which the enemy made, this NCO commanded the Platoon with rare courage and conscientious ability.'
