Meritorious Service Medal For gallant conduct and devotion to duty through operations near Gravenstafel October 4th to 6th 1917. This NCO handled his platoon under difficult conditions with initiative and dash. By his personal example of fearlessness under heavy shell fire he set a magnificent example to his men. He left New Zealand with the main Expeditionary Force and throughout almost continuous service has proved himself an excellent soldier and a capable leader of men. Recommendation date: |
