Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the attack on the Passchendaele Ridge on the 12th October 1917. He did exceptionally fine work on the flank of his Battalion as No. 1 of a Lewis Gun team, when an enemy counter-attack showed signs of developing. He showed great gallantry throughout the day.'
