Bar to Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty near Miraumont on 23rd August 1918. The platoon commander being killed before reaching the assembly point,
Sergeant Timmins took charge, skillfully completed the assembly, and led the platoon in the subsequent attack. Later at 11am he again led the platoon forward in the attack and by cool and skilful handling obtained all objective, capturing 30
prisoners and 5 machine guns. Throughout the day Sergeant Timmins visited his posts under heavy fire adjusting dispositions and inspiring confidence in his men.'
Source: London Gazette Date: Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At Hebuterne on 15th July 1918 Sergt Timmins showed great qualities and bravery. He led his Platoon to the attack and drove the enemy out of one of the bays by personally bombing the machine gunners. He then jumped into the breach and followed the enemy up the sap as they were attempting the escape, and accounted for several of them with rifle and bomb. Throughout he displayed utter contempt of danger and his example was an inspiration to the men who followed him cheerily.'
