Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the field from 24th August to 31st August 1918. At Loupart Wood on 24th August he led his platoon forward in the attack with skill and determination, killing a machine gun crew and capturing a gun. When the attack was over he reorganised his platoon and then led forward a bombing party which successfully cleared his front. At Bancourt he again skillfully
led forward his platoon in the leading wave of the attack and showed great resource and skill in reorganising his line.'
