Wounded in action, 4 June 1916 (gun shot wound, shoulder), and admitted to No 8 Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to 13th General Hospital, Boulogne, 12 June 1916; to England, 18 June 1916, and admitted to Reading War Hospital; transferred to No 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst, 7 August 1916; discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 4 October 1916; marched in to NZ Reserve Group, Sling Camp, 15 January 1917.
