Military Medal 'For conspicuous devotion to duty and courage under fire in St Jean Area on 18th and 12th October 1917. Te Amo was one of a party detailed to effect urgent repairs to Wieltje/Gravenstafel Road which was heavily shelled by the enemy. A number of mules and horses which were stuck in shell holes had been abandoned by their drivers, and Te Amo rendered specially good service in getting the animals clear
thereby saving casualties. Work was done under heavy shell fire and exceptionally bad conditions. Te Amo has at all times been most conscientious in the
performance of his duty.'
