'At Auchonvillers ? 26/27th March 1918. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He carried messages, S.A.A. water and rations to gun teams of his section in the Front line while under heavy fire. Worked untiringly and displayed fine contempt of danger, an inspiring example to all.'
