Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the field at Snap Trench near Beaucamp on the 13th September 1918. This NCO led his section in a bombing attack on an enemy trench, captured the trench and established a block and post in a communication trench leading out it. Afterwards he held the post with three other men and inflicted loss on the enemy. During the whole of the operations on this and following days this NCO did much valuable work, and set a splendid example to the men of his platoon.'
