Military Medal 'For continuous gallantry and devotion to duty throughout the recent offensive actions from 21st August to 12th September 1918. Stockdale is NCO in charge of Battalion Linesman and worked night and day in his endeavours to maintain his wires. Signal communication was extremely difficult owing to heavy shell fire but by his fine personal example he heartened the men and kept the lines maintained.'
